Terms & Conditions
Operator: Sahand Farm Inc. (operating as Barn2Box), Bradford, Ontario, Canada
[REVIEW NEEDED] before publishing.
This is a working draft of the live-sheep sale model. The team should have these terms reviewed by a Canadian agricultural-law lawyer before customers are bound by them. Sections marked [REVIEW NEEDED] are the highest priority.
1. Agreement to Terms
By placing an order on barn2box.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use our services. These terms apply to all customers of Sahand Farm Inc., operating as Barn2Box (“Barn2Box”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
2. What You Are Buying [REVIEW NEEDED]
When you place an order on barn2box.com, you are purchasing a specific live sheep from a partner farm's flock in Ontario. In V1 of the platform, all orders are fulfilled from Sahand Farm Inc.'s flock in Bradford, Ontario. The sheep is identified at the time of order confirmation and recorded as belonging to you in our internal records (and, where applicable, by its provincial CSIP tag number once tagged).
You are not purchasing a quantity of meat. You are purchasing a live animal. Barn2Box separately provides a service (see Section 4) to convert that animal into meat suitable for your kitchen.
3. When Ownership Transfers [REVIEW NEEDED]
Ownership of the sheep transfers from Sahand Farm Inc. to you at the moment your order is confirmed and payment is processed. From that moment forward the animal is your property.
For card orders, ownership transfer is effective when our payment processor confirms your charge. For cash orders, ownership transfer is effective when your order is confirmed; cash payment is collected on fulfillment day per Section 6.
The partner farm holds and cares for the animal on your behalf between order confirmation and the date the animal is transported to the abattoir. The animal remains your property throughout this period.
4. Service Provided by Barn2Box [REVIEW NEEDED]
Barn2Box provides the following service on your behalf, as your authorised service provider:
- Transport of your sheep from the partner farm to a provincially licensed Ontario abattoir.
- Coordination of slaughter (including halal slaughter where requested) and butchering to your specifications.
- Packaging and labelling of the resulting meat.
- Delivery of the prepared meat to you (or making it available for pickup at the farm).
Barn2Box is providing a service. We are not the seller of the meat returned to you — that meat is the product of processing your own animal under contract with the abattoir.
5. Where Slaughter Happens [REVIEW NEEDED]
Slaughter is performed at a provincially licensed Ontario abattoir that Barn2Box partners with. The abattoir operates under Ontario's Meat Regulation (Reg 31/05) under the Food Safety and Quality Act, 2001.
Each animal is inspected by abattoir staff before slaughter (ante-mortem) and after slaughter (post-mortem). The carcass is labelled by the abattoir under its provincial licence.
Halal slaughter, when requested, is performed by qualified slaughterers at the same licensed abattoir.
6. Pricing & Payment
Final pricing is shown at checkout and consists of two line items: the price of your live sheep, and a service fee that covers transport, slaughter coordination, butchering, packaging, and delivery. Tax and any distance-based delivery surcharge (when delivery is selected) are added.
- Card payments are processed via Stripe Inc. and charged at the amount shown at checkout when your order is confirmed.
- Cash customers must provide a valid card for a security hold equal to the late-cancellation fee. The hold is released upon cash payment on fulfillment day.
- Barn2Box uses Stripe for all payment processing and does not store your card details. Stripe's terms apply at stripe.com/legal.
7. Order Cutoff & Minimum Orders
- Orders must be placed before Sunday at 12:00 PM (noon) Toronto time.
- Each weekly cycle requires a minimum number of orders to proceed. If the minimum is not met, all orders are cancelled, ownership of any reserved sheep returns to the partner farm, and all payments are refunded.
- Barn2Box (or the partner farm) may skip a cycle at any time. Customers will be notified and refunded.
8. Cancellation [REVIEW NEEDED]
- Before your sheep is tagged for slaughter: you may cancel at no charge. Ownership of the sheep returns to the partner farm and your full payment (sheep + service) is refunded.
- After tagging but before transport: service fee is fully refunded. The sheep price is partially refunded — Barn2Box (or the partner farm) retains a portion to cover the costs of buying back a tagged animal.
- After transport to the abattoir: no refund — at this point the animal has been processed at the abattoir on your behalf.
- Ante-mortem inspection rejection: if the abattoir rejects the animal at ante-mortem inspection, Barn2Box absorbs the cost. You receive a full refund of both the sheep price and the service fee.
- Cancellations must be made through your online account or by contacting us at info@barn2box.com.
9. Fulfillment & Delivery
- Pickup is available at the partner farm. For Sahand Farm: 3944 Line 8, Bradford, Ontario.
- Delivery is available across the GTA. A distance-based surcharge is added at checkout.
- We are not responsible for missed pickups or failed deliveries due to incorrect addresses or unavailability of the recipient.
- All products are vacuum-sealed and chilled. Customers are responsible for refrigerating or freezing products upon receipt.
10. Product Quality & Food Safety
- Slaughter and butchering happen at a provincially licensed Ontario abattoir under Ontario's Food Safety and Quality Act and Meat Regulation.
- Fresh meat is perishable. Customers must refrigerate products immediately upon receipt.
- We are not liable for spoilage or foodborne illness resulting from improper storage or handling by the customer after delivery or pickup.
- If you receive a product that appears damaged or in poor condition, contact us within 24 hours at info@barn2box.com.
11. Accounts & Security

- You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure. Do not share magic-link emails with others.
- Magic links expire after 15 minutes.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sahand Farm Inc. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the order in question.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
14. Dispute Resolution [REVIEW NEEDED]
Any dispute between you and Sahand Farm Inc. arising from these terms or from your purchase of a sheep and processing service shall first be addressed by good-faith discussion. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved in the courts of the Province of Ontario, sitting in the City of Toronto.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. Existing confirmed orders are governed by the version of the terms in effect at the time the order was confirmed.
