Summary
You buy a live sheep from a partner farm and Barn2Box provides the processing and delivery service. Refund eligibility depends on where the animal is in that journey — full refunds before tagging, partial after tagging, none once the animal has been processed at the abattoir. We always make spoilage and abattoir-rejection cases right.
1. Cancellation before the sheep is tagged for slaughter
You may cancel your order at no charge at any time before your sheep has been tagged for slaughter (which happens on Monday morning before transport to the abattoir). Ownership of the sheep returns to the partner farm and you receive a full refund of both the sheep price and the service fee.

2. Cancellation after tagging but before transport
Once your animal has been tagged but before transport to the abattoir, the service fee is refunded in full (we have not yet performed the service). The sheep price is partially refunded — Barn2Box (or the partner farm) retains a portion to cover the cost of buying back a tagged animal that may be harder to re-sell.
3. Cancellation after transport to the abattoir
Once your sheep has been transported to the abattoir, your order is not refundable. At this point the slaughter and butchering service is being performed on your behalf and the animal has been processed under the abattoir's licence.
4. Spoiled meat on delivery
If your meat arrives spoiled, improperly chilled, or otherwise not fit for consumption, contact us within 24 hours of delivery or pickup with:
- Your order confirmation code
- A description of the issue
- Photos if available
We will offer either a full refund or a replacement order in the following cycle, at your choice. We are not responsible for spoilage that occurs after pickup/delivery due to improper storage by the customer.
5. Abattoir rejects the animal at ante-mortem inspection
Every animal is inspected at the licensed abattoir before slaughter. If the abattoir rejects your sheep at that ante-mortem inspection, Barn2Box absorbs the cost and you receive a full refund of both the sheep price and the service fee. You owe nothing.
We will notify you the same day and process the refund within 5 business days.
6. Cycle cancelled or skipped by Barn2Box
If a weekly cycle is cancelled (minimum order count not met) or skipped for any reason, all orders are refunded in full. Ownership of any reserved sheep returns to the partner farm.
7. Refund processing times
Approved refunds are processed through Stripe and typically appear on your statement within 5–10 business days, depending on your card issuer.
8. Late cancellation / no-show fee
If you do not collect a paid pickup order on fulfillment day and do not contact us, a no-show fee may be retained per Section 8 of the Terms & Conditions to cover storage and disposal.
